Understanding the Global Tax Arena – Risk & Regulation

February 1, 2007 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Program Description.

Conference agenda is available here.

Globalization is the norm for doing business today, and with it has come global tax exposure, disclosure and multi-jurisdictional scrutiny. Companies the world over are grappling with tax risk and related controls.  The U.S. was a first adopter with Sarbanes-Oxley. The European Union followed with its 8thDirective, and now Japan, Canada and others have either adopted or are planning to adopt new controls regimes. Additionally, companies face new levels of scrutiny and risk around transparency of their tax positions, penalties and enforcement, and multi-jurisdiction information sharing.

Responding to feedback from last year’s attendees, the 8th Annual Tax Policy & Practice Symposium will bring together some of the world’s leading global authorities from government, regulatory agencies, business, law, accounting, and academia to discuss topics that can help you do business in this new global arena.  The speakers will discuss policy level issues including the global development of legislative and regulatory approaches to address aggressive tax positions, tax controls, and financial reporting. The speakers will also discuss corporate strategies for dealing with the new environment, and will address many of the practical risk and regulation issues facing tax departments today.
